Course Introduction

Welcome to the R.Y.A Sea Survival course with the Glaciere

It’s a good idea to bring with you swimming costume and a towel, shorts, T-Shirt, wet weather / Oilskins or Survival suit (if you have one)

If you have your own Life Jacket, bring it along to try out in our pool

Part Two – Life Jackets and Life rafts

Life Jacket design, donning, purpose and entering the water from a height

Safety Harness design and securing arrangements

Life Rafts standards, stowage and containment, design, launching, abandoning, righting helping injured persons, equipment and initial actions to be taken when in the raft.








Part Three – Practical Wet Drill (in one of our swimming pools)

Life raft Launching

Boarding dry and wet

Jumping From the pool side

Methods to increase chances of survival once in water

Helping injured persons

Raft capsize drill

Final abandonment
