£225 / 2 Day Course Welcome to your Power Boating Course with the Glaciere. The R.Y.A National Powerboat Scheme exists to meet the need of those who use small, open power boats. Power boating is fun and a relatively easy sport to take part in. Power boating is an exhilarating fun and often fast activity. In recent years the number of people involved in the sport has multiplied meaning that there are many more boats on the water. It has never been more important to acquire skills to make the sport safer and more enjoyable for all. This course isn’t just suited to sailors it’s also suited to divers, wanting to take part in boat dives. There isn’t a minim age limit for a bower boating course so this course is suited to any body. Even if you have no sail experience at all this course will suit you.
SAFETY BOAT - RYA SAFETY BOAT COURSE Aim: to introduce the techniques used in powerboats escorting racing fleets of dinghies, windsurfers and canoes, providing safety and rescue cover for training fleets, and assisting in race management. It is strongly recommended that a member of the rescue crew should hold a first aid certificate (should have experience of first aid). The ratio of students to instructors should not exceed 6:1 (using two boats).

3. Dinghy rescue Approaching capsized craft Recovery of personnel from water Righting capsized and inverted dinghies Righting single-handers Understanding righting multihulls Lee shores
4. Windsurfer rescue Approach Recovery of personnel from water Rescue of single board without de-rigging Stowing rigs Recovering several boards
5. Kayak or Canoe rescue (can be covered as theory) Approach Rescue of different types of kayak and canoe Returning paddler to his kayak or canoe Stowing empty kayaks Towing occupied and empty kayaks or canoes
