MEET THE CREW

|
Hello, I'm
Captain Dave Murray,
Please find below some of the members of my crew. We will be adding
the rest of them shortly. Although some people say that it is me
that has done the Glaciere project, I can honestly tell you that
without these people who have volunteered their time, expertise and
devotion, The Glaciere would not be where it is today. |
 |
Rob is one of
our Friends of The Glaciere .when it came into the Albert Dock in
April 2004. Since being on the project, has become a diving
instructor. He has also achieved Yachtmaster Shore Based, Sea
Survival, VHF Radio and recently become a Power Boat Level 2
Instructor. Rob has now got the bug for sailing and has recently
bought a small boat on Lake Winderemere, Rob is now a yachtmaster
and cruising instructor |

Peter joined us in 2005.
Originally, coming along to learn to dive and after completing his
open water, he went on to complete his Advance Open Water and Rescue
Diver. Unfortunately a shoulder injury is restricting his diving at
the moment, but Peter is enjoying the camaraderie on board the
Glaciere, although he get frustrated as he is unable to do any
manual work. He is very popular person with the females aboard the
vessel. For more information speak to Peter youself!!!!. |

Mark
has been on the project now for over 12 months. He is one of our
volunteers who attends the boat virtually every day of the week.
During his time on board, he achieved PADI Open water diver,
Advanced Diver, Rescue Diver, Divemaster, Assistant Dive Instructor
and will soon complete his exams to become a PADI Dive Instructor.
Mark is also completed his day skipper theory, VHF Radio Operator,
Sea Survival RYA First Aid, Power Boat Level 2 and has an ambition
to become a British yacht master and hopefully become the
captain of the Glaciere of Liverpool |

Steph
is one of our younger crew members, who is studying oceonography at
Bangor University. Also, in the last 12 months since joining us,
became a PADI Open Water Advanced Diver. She has also learned how to
helm the Glaciere. She is literally moored the Glaciere alongside at
Glasgow, Belfast, I.O.M and on our last trip out, even took the
wheel to bring us back into the Albert Dock, one of Liverpool's
hardest locks to enter. It is not to helm an 82 ton of oak with a
mind of it's own, but Steph certainly has the guts and the
enthusiasm to make the Glaciere go exactly where she wants it to go.
We are very hopeful over the next few years, you will see steph more
and more take over the wheel of the Glaciere. |

Bob,
better know as "Little Bobby" from Little Langdale. Bob has sailed
over 8,000 with me and has faced all kinds of conditions and as soon
as he heard about the Glaciere project, he was quickly back on the
M6 from Cumbria to Liverpool. Bob is also a British Yacht Master and
is responsible for looking after our small sail training boat that
we have on Lake Windermere. Bob can literally fall asleep anywhere
anytime any day, but he is probably the best man I know for doing
night shifts, as in his previous life, before he started sailing, he
worked seven years of constant nights. |

Eric,
is a very dear friend of mine who I've sailed with for 20 years
including Atlantic crossing. Eric is also an RYA Yacht Master and
has 40 years sailing experience to share. Eric is a great heavy
weather man and you can rely on him to go down and make you a bit of
dinner when everyone is clinging on for their life. Eric is the man
who will say "e'r Cock, e'rs a bit' a dinna" in that famous Burnley
Accent. |

Dave
was one of my backbones who retired from the RSPCA and decided what
couple of spare days he had, he would spend on the Glaciere. Dave is
a great help when we are making the decisions, as always speaks his
mind and always gives you the truth about what he is thinking and
this is exactly what we need on board. Dave has been involved with
all aspects of the repairs to the ship, and can turn his hand to
anything and no job is ever a problem to him. |
