ABOUT THE GLACIERE |
|
GLACIERE OF
LIVERPOOL is an 1899 Baltic Trader which had been sitting at the
bottom of the River Mersey for around six years. David Murray, a local lad, originally from Myrtle Street, Liverpool, who has sailed over 28,000 miles including an Atlantic crossing with his wife Collette, had the Glaciere raised and lifted out of the Mersey to start the restoration of this fabulous ship and to bring her back to her former glory in the heart of Liverpool. It is Dave's intention to use the cargo hold as a classroom to teach the Padi Open Water Dive Course, First Aid Responder Course and Basic Sailing and Navigation Course.....so if you would like to learn to dive and sail, email us and we will send you your course start dates. It is also our intention to help unemployed and under-privileged people of Liverpool to learn to dive and sail. This is an ideal ship to build camaraderie, confidence and put some smiles on faces. The Glaciere is being restored from the proceeds of Dave's book "Funny But it's True"....the book is only £9.99 and all proceeds will be spent on the Glaciere. You can buy the book from this site or by ordering one by ringing Dave on 07901 914499 and he will send you a copy out by post. The Glaciere Sailing and Diving Club opened in March 2004 in the Albert Dock, Liverpool. To receive information on forthcoming Padi Open Water Dive Course dates, Emergency First Aid Responder Courses, open evenings and film shows, please email us your name and address. We will keep you up to date with what is happening on an ongoing basis. |
